Why Is My Uniswap V3 Position Not Earning Fees?

Last updated

If your Uniswap V3 position stopped earning fees, the reason is almost always the same: the market price has moved outside your price range. On a concentrated-liquidity DEX, your liquidity only collects swap fees while the current price sits inside the range you chose. Once price leaves that band, you earn nothing until it comes back or you re-center.

Why concentrated liquidity earns fees only in range

Uniswap V3 is the original concentrated-liquidity DEX, and Super9MM runs on its canonical deployment on Robinhood Chain (chain ID 4663). Unlike the old constant-product model, where your capital was spread across every possible price, V3 lets you concentrate all your liquidity into a narrow price range. That concentration is the whole point: inside the range you earn far more fees per dollar than a full-range position would.

The trade-off is that fees are only paid to liquidity that is actively quoting at the current price. When the market moves past your upper or lower bound, your position is no longer part of the active book. Swaps route to other LPs whose ranges still cover the price, and your fee income drops to zero. Your capital is not lost — it is simply parked, fully converted into the token that got cheaper, waiting.

How to confirm your position is out of range

  • Check the token split. An in-range position holds a mix of both tokens. If yours now shows ~100% of one asset, price has crossed a bound. See out-of-range LP positions for what that means.
  • Compare current price to your bounds on the Uniswap V3 pools view. If the live price is above your upper tick or below your lower tick, you are out of range.
  • Watch uncollected fees stop growing. In-range positions accrue fees on every swap. If the counter has been flat for hours, that is the tell.

The fix: re-centering (manual or automatic)

Getting back to earning means putting a live range around the current price again. That is rebalancing, and you have two paths.

Manual re-centering

You withdraw the old position, swap the assets back toward a balanced ratio, and mint a new position centered on today's price. It works, but it is a chore: you have to watch the market, act quickly when price drifts, pay swap and gas costs each time, and repeat it forever. Miss a move overnight and you sit idle for hours. Our manual LP versus automation comparison lays out the full workload.

Automatic re-centering with Super9MM

Super9MM is an independent automation layer built on top of Uniswap V3 on Robinhood Chain. It is not affiliated with or operated by Uniswap Labs or Robinhood — it uses Uniswap V3's position manager, swap router, and subgraph to do the mechanical work for you. With auto-rebalance enabled, a keeper watches your position and, when price drifts far enough, re-centers the range around the new price so you keep collecting fees. You can run it both-directions, up-only, or down-only.

Two things make this safe to hand off. First, it is non-custodial: each user gets their own Automator contract, only you can withdraw, and the keeper can call only a small set of hard-coded functions guarded by a TWAP check and a rate limit. Second, the fee is aligned with your outcome: Super9MM takes 9% of earned yield only — no deposit, entry, or exit fees, and it never touches your principal or impermanent loss. You keep 91% of what your position earns.

Choosing a range that goes out of range less often

Re-centering fixes the symptom; a sensible range reduces how often it happens. Tighter ranges earn more fees per dollar but drift out of range faster; wider ranges earn less per dollar but stay live through bigger swings. Match the width to the pair's volatility — see how to set a price range and pick a preset like the Wide Earner for volatile pairs or the Tight Scalper for stable ones. Frequently asked questions

Why did my Uniswap V3 position suddenly stop earning fees?
The price moved outside your chosen range. Concentrated-liquidity positions on Uniswap V3 only collect swap fees while the current price is inside their bounds. Once price crosses your upper or lower tick, your liquidity leaves the active book and earns nothing until it re-enters or you re-center the range.
Do I lose money when my position goes out of range?
You do not lose your deposit, but you stop earning and your position becomes 100% of whichever token got cheaper — which is impermanent loss in action. You keep earning zero fees the whole time it sits out of range, so the opportunity cost adds up.
Can Super9MM re-center my range for me?
Yes. With auto-rebalance enabled, a keeper re-centers your range around the current price when it drifts far enough, so you keep collecting fees. It is non-custodial — only you can withdraw — and Super9MM charges 9% of earned yield only.
