How to Wrap PLS to WPLS on PulseChain

To wrap PLS to WPLS, send native PLS to the WPLS wrapper contract (usually a “Wrap” button in your wallet or a DEX), and you receive WPLS one-for-one. It's a 1:1, fully reversible conversion — you can unwrap WPLS back to PLS anytime. Always keep some native PLS for gas.

Why wrapping exists

PLS is PulseChain's native coin — it's what you pay gas with, and it behaves a bit like the base currency of the network. But most DeFi contracts, including 9mm V3 pools, are built around the ERC-20 token standard, and native PLS isn't an ERC-20 token. WPLS (“Wrapped PLS”) solves this: it's an ERC-20 token that represents PLS at a strict 1:1 ratio. Wrapping simply deposits your native PLS into a contract that mints you the equivalent WPLS, so pools and routers can handle it like any other token.

If you've used other chains, this is exactly the same idea as wrapping the native coin into its ERC-20 form. Nothing about your value changes — 1 PLS wrapped is always redeemable for 1 PLS.

How to wrap PLS to WPLS

  1. Confirm you have native PLS. You need PLS both to wrap and to pay the gas for the wrap transaction itself.
  2. Open the wrap function. Many PulseChain wallets and DEX interfaces expose a “Wrap” action. Under the hood it calls the WPLS contract's deposit function.
  3. Enter the amount — but leave a gas buffer. Never wrap 100% of your PLS. Keep enough native PLS aside to cover this transaction and future ones like approvals, deposits, and rebalances.
  4. Confirm. Approve the transaction. Once it lands, WPLS appears in your wallet at a 1:1 ratio to the PLS you wrapped.
  5. Unwrap anytime. To go back, use the “Unwrap” / withdraw function on the WPLS contract and your native PLS returns 1:1.

When you actually need WPLS

You typically wrap because a pool you want to join is a WPLS pair — for example WPLS against HEX, PLSX, INC, or a stablecoin. Common mistakes to avoid

  • Wrapping all your PLS. Do this and you have no gas left to unwrap or manage anything. Always keep a native PLS buffer.
  • Confusing WPLS with PLS on a chart. They track 1:1, but they are different token entries in your wallet. Make sure you're depositing the one the pool expects.
  • Interacting with a fake WPLS contract. Verify the WPLS address on a block explorer like Otterscan before wrapping large amounts.
